Meetings are normally held on the fourth Thursday of September, November, January, March and May with a Christmas meeting early in December and the Annual General Meeting on the fourth Thursday in April. Speakers and topics are varied - with contributions from Society members as well as lecturers from Derbyshire and Sheffield.

In June and July there is at least one evening visit and usually a day outing to places of interest. The Society is always pleased to give conducted tours of the town and talks to other local history groups.
