EXHIBITION 2005

The Society held its annual exhibition in the Peel Centre over the weekend of 11/12 June and the theme this year was Dronfield in Wartime linked to the 60th anniversary of the ending of the Second World War.  The exhibition drew more visitors than on any previous occasion and there was a constant flow throughout both days.  There was much chat about wartime experiences and at least two old soldiers discovered they had served with the same regiment and in the same theatre of war but had never met before.

The Society is extremely grateful for the generosity of many people who loaned treasured items to be put on display along with documents and photographs from its own collection.  The display case housed David Salt’s uniform in fine condition together with photographs and a tribute and obituary to record the war career about which, typically, he spoke so rarely.
