The daughter of actors John Bell and Anna Volska, Lucy Bell was born in 1970, and has a playwright sister Hilary who is two years older. She is known more as a stage actress - a member of the Bell Shakespeare Company set up by her father, although she does have a fair list of television and movie credits.
Lucy Bell plays Detective Sergeant Tessa Vance in Murder Call.
She graduated from NIDA in 1991, where she met and became friends with Jennifer Kent.
She has had small roles in the films Thank God He Met Lizzie (1997) as Andi, Swinger (1994) as 'Girlfriend', Oscar and Lucinda (1996) as Mary Hasset, The Boy who Dared to Dream (1994), Crime Time (1994) and The Nostradamus Kid (1993) as Sarai Anderson.
Lucy also had the title role in the 1994 film Mary (as nun Mary MacKillop). Sound and video clips from some of these films are available at the unofficial Lucy Bell Website. She is next due to appear in a Bruce Beresford-directed IMAX film in 1999 with Murder Call guest star Paul Mercurio.
She also guested in the television series GP and Water Rats, and appeared in another TV series 'Snowy'
