Gary Day was born in New Zealand in 1941, although he has long lived in Melbourne, Australia. The picture on the left is of a very young looking Gary in the 1982 film 'Crosstalk'.
Gary Day plays Detective Inspector Malcolm Thorne in Murder Call.
He is well-remembered on TV as Detective Phillip Redford in the series Homicide from 1973 until 1977. He also played Marcus Boyd for six months on the series The Box.
Has also done much stage - being a member of the Melbourne Theatre Company throughout the 1970s he is frequently mentioned in John Sumner's biography 'Recollections at Play'.

More recently he seems to have concentrated on television appearances - he held up the Shortland Street clinic for a few episodes to get a hip replacement for his mother in Shortland Street, and appeared in the mini series The Great Bookie Robbery (1986), Blue Murder (1995) and The Bite (1996). He has also appeared in an episode of Halifax fp - 'Without Consent'.
